Description

This outdoor language activity invites learners to explore local monuments or landmarks in the community (near the library) while practicing essential vocabulary and speaking in real contexts. Learners will connect place, word, and meaning through observation and conversation, supported by light guidance from the facilitator.

Objectives

• Reinforce basic vocabulary related to places, architecture, history, and directions.
• Practice asking and answering questions in the target language.
• Encourage cultural awareness and community connection.
• Use speaking, listening, and note-taking

• Common questions: What is this? When was it built? Who is it named after?
• Vocabulary: street, statue, tower, bridge, square, old, new, beautiful, famous, etc.
• (Optional) Books on local monuments or history
• Printed “Walkabout Vocabulary Sheet” (monument names, simple questions)
