Description

A friendly, welcoming space where migrant children and teens can receive personalised help with school assignments. Led by trained volunteers and supported by library staff, these sessions help bridge the gap between home and school, build confidence, and offer guidance on academic success. The library also prepares and promotes a dedicated shelf of recommended books, reference materials, and study aids, especially useful for newcomers adjusting to the school system.

Objectives

Participants will:
• Support academic success and school integration for newly arrived students.
• Encourage independent learning and confidence-building.
• Familiarise participants with the library as a resource for school support.
• Promote collaboration between libraries, schools, and families.

Prerequisites for the audience

• Be enrolled in school or training
• This activity is useful for new language learners. However, depending on available translation resources, a basic understanding of the language of the facilitator (or a translator is available)

• Tables and chairs for small group or 1:1 tutoring
• Pens, notebooks, reference dictionaries, calculators
