Description

An immersive and welcoming job shadowing experience that introduces migrant youth to the inner workings of a public library. Participants will gain hands-on exposure to the diverse roles of library professionals while exploring how libraries serve as hubs of learning, digital access, and community belonging.

Objectives

• Introduce participants to the full scope of librarian roles (beyond “checking out books”)
• Build awareness of how libraries support literacy, inclusion, tech access, and community engagement
• Provide hands-on, observational experience in a living workplace setting

Prerequisites for the audience

• Basic curiosity about community service or public jobs
• Conversational level in the host country language (with accommodations as needed)
• Signed permission forms if under 18
